Agency History
Of the thousands of businesses that begin each year, very few survive for a hundred years. Of those that do, even fewer of them are still owned and operated by the same family who started them. The Mallory Agency is one of those rare companies that has not only reached its Centennial, but has done so being operated continuously by the same family.
One of the successes of the Mallory Agency has been the continuation of great service and dedication that the family has passed down from generation to generation. No company stays in business over 100 years without a dedication to honesty, integrity, and efficiency. No company stays in business 100 years without great service to its customers and clients, either, or without being an active part of the community. All these things are true of Mallory Agency and the family that has operated it these last 100 years. Mallory Agency began with Arthur Eugene Mallory and his brother, William Luther Mallory, in 1907. In 1906, Arthur graduated from Draughon's Business College in Atlanta, came back to his native Troup County, and began Mallory Realty Company to which he added insurance in 1907. The year 1907 was an interesting time in LaGrange. Elm City Cotton Mills started production in April, an electric cotton ginnery was built, and LaGrange Automotive Company was founded. The car was here to stay and paving the streets downtown became a priority. The City Council set their first speed limit for automobiles. It was eight miles per hour. New growth in business and industry meant larger schools and LaGrange High School, then located on Harwell Avenue, was enlarged. LaGrange still had two female colleges. Even the town cemetery had to be enlarged. The Post Office moved to the corner of Vernon and Bull Streets. Two of Arthur's sons, both graduates of the Citadel, served their country during wartime before coming back to join their father and continue his legacy of service to their native community. The elder, Arthur, Jr., was wounded and captured in World War II. The younger, Richard, served during the Korean War and returned home to enter the realty and insurance business. He was vice president by 1956 and president in 1964. In 1970, Richard H. Mallory, Jr. a graduate of Valdosta State College with a degree in Business Administration became a partner, representing the third generation in the family business. He became the sole owner and President in 1991. In 2007 his son, Matthew H. Mallory a graduate of Valdosta State University with a degree in Speech Communication, became a partner and is now the fourth generation of the family to join the agency. For many years, the separate realty and insurance concerns operated from the same locations. They started out in Adams Hardware Company offices on the square but moved to rooms over the Bank of LaGrange on Main Street. In 1929, they moved to the Mallory-Hutchinson Building on Main Street. From 1978 to 1985, the business operated in the old First Federal Bank building on the corner of Broad and Lewis Streets. While building a new home, the Georgia Building, on the corner of Broome and Lewis, they were temporarily housed at 203 Broad Street. The Georgia Building was their location from 1985 until 2000 when they moved to the current location at 301 West Haralson Street, on the corner of North Lewis Street. Over the years, Mallory Insurance grew through increased service and reliability and through the merger and acquisition of other agencies. In 1985, they bought out the Hodges Agency in LaGrange. In 1991 they acquired the Fisher Agency in Newnan and in 1993 the Shepard-Leek Agency in Alabama. Their client base is extensive, but still, every customer gets the same personal attention they would receive if they were the only client. Their company motto is "The highest quality products and world class service at reasonable prices."

WHY AN INDEPENDENT AGENT?
There is a difference in where you buy your protection. Many people don't realize there are three sources for insurance:
1.Captive Agents, who can sell you the insurance of only one company. 2.Telephone Representatives, who can offer you the insurance of one company, and only on the telephone. 3.Independent Insurance Agents, who represent a number insurance companies, and research with these firms to find you the best combination of price, coverage and service. Your Independent Insurance Agent:
